So I am parting out a 1977 Datsun 280Z, and put an ad on the Baltimore Craigslist to see if anyone was looking for parts. I’ve gotten a few responses asking for various things, but last night I got an email that was just a picture. Seems like I am supposed to guess what it is. This seemed like a fun game, so I’m going to let you guys play too!

Here’s the picture:

Let me know: 1. What is this? 2. How much should I sell mine for assuming it’s in good condition?

Kinja'd!!!

Isn’t Craigslist just the best?

My guess is that it is some kind of modular water pump inlet that sits on the engine block? No idea.

That thing with the spade connectors on the bottom left is a water temp gauge. So maybe a water pump?

External Combustion Kerosene Blinker Fluid Reservoir. You can tell by the wick on the top. $82.87 value in reasonable condition

I think cnessel27 had the earliest response. Here’s a cool period Sears ad for some tires with a rallying Z as your prize:

Mine still had transmission first but thermostat housing was second.

Looks like those are a bias form factor, which is no surprise. Those look a lot like the tires (which *were* Sears) that came off my ‘59 Lincoln. I thought they were bias ply, but they might have been these!
